Hamming after the Apocalypse

The weather is expected to be sunny this weekend so I think I’ll do a POTA activation in Nishuane park.

My first stop is at Montclair Public library. I borrow a light-weight QRP rig, a battery, sloper antenna, two pairs of wireless headphones, and a JJ-38 straight key from the equipment section of the library.

Oh I should introduce myself, I’m Jessica Shabazz, callsign WB2IFS. The FCC blockchain system assigned me an old callsign through the hamstudy VEC portal. I’ve been hamming for 15 years. I’ve got two kids and I’m a caretaker for my father who is recovering from dementia. We’re a family or four and I’m looking forward to bringing us all out into the sunshine at the park. The kids love to running around and play on the playground and Dad is continent to sit next to me and listen to me work CW through the headphones.

Anyway I load everything on my bike and peddle home. I’ve got a few chores to do before we catch the robo tro-tro the park.
